hobbitfxphd_featured

Directed By: Peter Jackson
Written By: Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Peter Jackson
Starring: Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen and Richard Armitage

After almost ten years we are heading back to Middle Earth with the first of three films looking at the events preceeding Lord of the Rings. We follow a young Bilbo Baggins as he is invited to join Galdalf and a troop of Dwarves on a journey to reclaim their stolen homeland. The Hobbit has had a rocky development process with directors dropping out the the MGM bankrupcy, but it is finally here and is pioneering a new way of watching films at 48 frames per second. Kat and Tristan discuss the film as well as the new viewing speed.

Feature: Summer Scoops Festival

Every summer the Mercury Cinema plays a number of ourstanding new films that missed our cinema screen or bring back some that we may have missed. We look at some of the films that are screening and what we’re looking forward to seeing.
