I'm giving up fudge for Lent. I was watching a cop show the other day
and the officer is getting ready for his shift and so -he is putting on his belt of righteousness, his holster of truth. He fastens his armor of protection and his "lens of accountability." That's right, he behaves and performs much differently, with a body cam. And he treats people better. He's much more careful about the stories he tells, and not making himself the "hero of his own stories." He doesn't cut corners as much and he doesn't fudge the numbers anymore. That is why I am giving up fudge for lent. If cops can change so can journalists. Get a Body Cam, and give up Fudge for Lent! I'm Richard Arnold Beattie and that's Audio Journal for Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
