Professor Robert Thurman is an American Buddhist author and academic, highly regarded for his pioneering translations of Buddhist religious and philosophical material. TIME named Robert one of the 25 most influential Americans of 1997 calling him a, “larger-than-life scholar-activist destined to convey the dharma, the precious teachings of Siddhartha, from Asia to America.”
Bob is the first Westerner Tibetan Buddhist Monk ordained by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who he first met in the early 1960’s. In 2020, Bob was awarded the prestigious Padma Shri Award for his help in recovering India’s ancient Buddhist heritage.
Bob’s most recent book is entitled, “Wisdom is Bliss: Four Friendly Fun Facts That Can Change Your Life”.
