In this episode, Alexis Eggleton brings you her story of how she took her life and turned it around in a positive way, one step at a time. She shares how she overcame some of her struggles and continues striving to be a positive role model for herself and those around her. Alexis "Lexi" was born in a tiny town in upstate New York, where her family has resided for generations. Every quintessential small-town girl dreams of getting out, and she did – studying at The Ohio State University (Go Buckeyes!) before returning to New York. Lexi spent her twenties trying to figure out how to live in that small-town fishbowl – working in government before running a nonprofit by age 27. Since that first nonprofit, She worked in a handful of others and eventually made her way 117 miles south to the greatest city in the world: New York. She currently serves as a Vice President for Fundraising for a youth development organization, and it's significant to raise millions of dollars to give young people opportunities and access to experiences they might not have had otherwise. Being able to work in service of others is her ethos. Her long-term partner and more recent fiancé are her best friend and biggest cheerleader. He's quiet to her, loud, careful, her wild, and falling in love with him was an evolution because she had to learn to love herself before she could adequately love him back. Whoever said making friends in your 30s is hard was correct, but she is proud of the women she's met and continues to surround herself with.
