Genesis 38 The Lord was with Joseph, so God helped him succeed. Joes life is looking better, He’s running a mansion. He is in change of everything. He has other servants working for him. Joseph has a gift in administrative leadership. He takes things and creates better systems. God has gifted him with a strong business mindset. Sometimes we think that if you’re a good Christian you’re going to become a pastor, or a missionary… Not the case, God gifts people to accomplish all types of work. And everything you do is to be done as unto the Lord. Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. 24 Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.[a] Colossians 3:23-24 If you’re a custodian, you clean that toilet like its Jesus’ bathroom. If you’re in sales you sell like Jesus is your boss and your selling to Mary, Jesus mother. Followers of God should be blessings to everyone they work for. Thessalonians 4:11 Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not Christians will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others. Your hard work may be blessing others who may not deserve it. If you have a slave owning boss… I’m not sure Joe prayed to God to help him to do what is right. Give me wisdom to serve and excel. The way to achieve the dream isn’t to get others to serve you its to be excellent at serving others. (Historical evidence of the time period.) When you work for a boss you report to them and your management. When you are the boss, CEO, small business owner you have your clients that are your boss. You have your employees you must inspire and Hire and fire. 1.Success comes to those that serve. So, if you serve others than everything will always be ok. NOPE NOT A CHANCE. The rainfalls on the just and unjust verse. But serving is a God requested thing. And it builds the experience and ability to lead. You earn your spot on the team through your ability to serve. SUCCESS COMES TO THOSE WHO SERVE! In everything we do we are called to serve as if we are serving Jesus. Genesis 39:1- Potiphar’s wife lies and tries to cheat. How to resist temptation. 1. Refuse it 2. Stay away from it. (fire burns) 3. RUN… Just because you are doing the right thing doesn’t mean the right things will happen for you. In the long run its better to do the right thing then to be looking over your shoulder about your past. In the view of eternity, it is never worth it to do the wrong thing. No one can judge me… well yes, they can but it should be we are more concerned with the judgement of God. (Lord give us the courage to withstand the unfairness of life and still do everything as an act of worship) Genesis 39:11-15 Joseph has problems with his coats. 1. The coat that caused jealousy 2. The same coat that faked his death 3. The coat that got him thrown in prison.
