In this episode The Doctor Dads interview chief medical officer at ENDOURAGE Dr. Michael Steward. Dr. Steward is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to cannabis and the endocannabinoid system. Cannabis has been used as a plant medicine for ages and the medicinal qualities of this powerful plant have many uses to support and optimize our health.

We dive into the following topics:

  • The Endocannabinoid System
  • The healing qualities of the Cannabis plant
  • The importance of using CBD products derived from flower
  • The ratio of CBD/THC matters
  • The types of terpenes and cannabinoids used in each formula gives the medicinal qualities
  • The importance of using products that are clean and free of heavy metals, microbes, and pesticides.
  • Delivery Systems for administration of cannabis plant medicine
  • and more

Finding innovative ways to help people who are suffering is at the heart of Dr. Michael Steward’s career. That inexhaustible desire and drive to heal inspired him to become a founding partner of Endourage, and the company’s Chief Medical Officer.

Seven years ago, Dr. Steward began studying the potential benefits of cannabis when used medicinally as part of a treatment plan. He explored how the plant affects the body’s endocannabinoid system, which regulates the function of the brain, endocrine and immune tissues. His findings instilled in him a belief that cannabis has the ability to improve the quality of life for patients living with pain, addiction, and various other ailments. His research led him to help create Endourage, a venture designed to manufacture high-quality affordable CBD-rich products that doctors would feel comfortable recommending to their patients.

A licensed physician for more than 28 years, Dr. Steward has worked in both Family Practice, HIV Medicine, Hospice and Palliative care. He was on the leading edge of caring for patients with HIV back in the mid ’90s, when protease inhibitors weren’t yet available, and treatment of the disease was still in its nascent stages. Dr. Steward’s office in Denver treated over 1,200 patients with HIV, being the largest Family Practice office providing HIV care in a five-state region.
