Media literacy is one of the most important abilities in my opinion. People are quick to throw the label "fake news" around these days but how often are we correct? How many times are we doing so when it simply doesn't align with our opinion?

In this episode I talk with Kevin Swift, a Broadcast Journalism and Media Professor at the University of North Carolina Pembroke. He was a Broadcast Journalism professor in my time at Missouri State University.

He once said in a class of mine something along the lines of all college students should have Journalism 101 as a prerequisite. After my time in college, I happen to agree.

As such, we discuss the topic of media literacy and why it is so important to understand what is news and what is opinion. Also, we talk about the benefits of consuming media from multiple sources.
