I watched a really interesting movie the other day that really explains vitality from a holistic perspective ~ a view that is characterized by the treatment of the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the symptoms of a disease. So Karen and I decided to give you a resumé of said movie "Vitality" as found a lot of value in the content that the director had to share. So what do we mean by vitality? Several dictionary definitions explain it as: thecontinuation of a meaningful or purposeful existence, or having the energy to do whatever you want, emotionally, physically and mentally with a zest for lifeSo in today's podcast we ask you to look at how you're living - Our body has daily energy needs, and provided we extract enough energy from the food we eat, from our exercise, from the air we breathe and from the rest that we receive, we can live a vital life.

The global healthcare system is broken yet we as patients are taught that it can fix us. It doesn't teach us what to do to heal ourselves. Rather, it encourages us to do whatever we feel like: eat whatever, drink whatever and then go to the doctor to be healed.

The body, mind, emotional life, interpersonal relationships and spiritual life are inextricably interwoven and only when all of these are balanced, can we lead a vital, healthy life. While modern medicine does remarkable things with trauma, it's not the solution to vitality and health and we as individuals must take responsability for our own wellness.

Doctors in the USA now have to see a patient every 7 - 10 minutes to be profitable and in that time, all they have time for is to make a diagnosis and write prescriptions. And a shocking 90% of doctor visits are stress-related yet there is no time to get into why people are sick and treat the CAUSES and not simply the symptoms. In this call, we delve into the four pillars of wellness ~ diet, exercise, sufficient good sleep and mindset. As usual we run way over time so this constitutes Part 1 of Vitality.Tune in to Part 2 next week! And if you'd like to watch the movie you can click here for a free viewing.Let us know what you thought of it!
