Sharifah Hardie is a business owner, political candidate, and activist who is passionate about supporting black businesses and eradicating homelessness and unemployment. She has experienced firsthand the challenges of being laid off multiple times and has made it her mission to help others in similar situations. Hardie is a strong advocate for equal access to opportunities and resources, and she is working to make a difference in her community and beyond. She is currently running for California State Senate in 2024.
Listen in as we discuss:
1. How black single mothers are disproportionately affected by a lack of access to resources like heat in their homes.
2. How businesses who take advantage of government loans and programs often don't include black-owned businesses.
3. The importance of recognizing and addressing the trauma experienced by people who are unemployed.
