Kim gets a Buffalo tee! And YOU get a buffalo tee! Everyone gets a buffalo tee! Well, everyone except for Kara because hers still hasn't shipped. The ladies gush over their new skin care products from Maya Chia and talk about the connection between some forms of self-care and feeling in your own body. Mental health advocate and New Zealand's favorite celebrity Jazz Thornton joins Kim and Kara for a riveting conversation on hope, change, and how great the world is with you in it. Share what's on your "trophy shelf"--those wins, big and small you're celebrating this week by tagging SGTC on social media.
This episode discusses suicide and suicidal ideation. Some listeners may this disturbing. If you or someone you know is contemplating self-harm, please, contact your physician, go to your local ER, or call the suicide prevention hotline in your country. For the United States, the numbers are as follows:
The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255), or message the Crisis Text Line at 741741. Both programs provide free, confidential support 24/7.
Having gone through childhood trauma and mental illness in her teens, Jazz has now dedicated her life to providing hope, teaching resilience and fighting for change. Having addressed world leaders at the UN General Assembly in New York and talked with Royalty about mental health, Jazz's work has become internationally recognized.
Her story was told in the feature documentary film The Girl on the Bridge which premiered in 2020 and through her three books published with Penguin Random House. Recently she received the Point of Light award from Her Majesty the Queen, was named Young New Zealander of the Year for 2021 and was crowned the 2022 Dancing with the Stars champion.
