In this episode, I am joined by Erica Mouch, a food therapist and Registered Dietitian, who has been practicing for a decade working with people of all ages to understand that all bodies are meant to be different sizes, weight does not equal health, and trying to help her clients truly listen to what they want when it comes to food. She talks about her time living in Japan and how this changed her relationship with food, her struggles with body dissatisfaction in college, and how she teaches her clients about how calories and serving sizes are completely arbitrary. We talk about how food is not black and white, but instead, it is all different shades of gray that we have to learn to pick and choose what works for us.

Bio:

Erica Mouch, RDN, CD is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with a B.S. from Eastern Michigan University and a B.A. in Psychology from Elon University. Practicing since 2013, Erica advocates and practices from a Health At Every Size® lens in order to support people from all shapes and sizes in healing their relationship with food and their bodies. Erica is also a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and helps client's connect to their authentic embodied selves.

Erica focuses her work from a Motivational Interviewing perspective with her clients, highlighting their own lived experience and using this in unison with her nutrition and food therapy expertise. She also trains healthcare professionals in using Motivational Interviewing in their practice.

When she's not working with clients or in the kitchen, you'll find her on a mountain with her pup, Watson, on a long dog walk or listening to vinyl records. In her spare time, she writes a food and vinyl record pairing blog, spends time with friends and volunteers with a variety of non-profit organizations.
