Dr. Michelle May joins me this week as we explore the insidious nature of diet culture, fueled by social media influencers and even some credible professionals in the medical field.

From workplace presenteeism to perfectionism, we delve into the factors that perpetuate this harmful cycle.

Dr. May shares her personal journey and how she discovered a healthier approach to food and body image, helping others break free from restrictive dieting and embrace sustainable health-promoting behaviors.

Finally, Dr. May and I touch on the issue of weight stigma and its role in perpetuating diet culture.

We discuss her plans for future books to help families combat these damaging beliefs and address the vulnerability of athletes to diet culture messaging.

Her hope is that people can move toward an instinctual form of eating and away from individuals with no expert knowledge telling them how to eat.

Dr. May’s experience, passion and eloquence made this a really great episode for me.

I hope you enjoy it too! 🙌
