Not only has Beau L’Amour learned a lot from his father, author Louis L’Amour, but he’s joined Johnny to share some of those lessons about following your passion and being tenacious, especially in an ever-evolving industry. Beau also gives us Johnny and listeners some great insight into some history involving the publishing and film industries. He has done a lot in his life and he continues to follow his creative passions.

Beau L'Amour is a writer and entertainment industry jack-of-all-trades. He is the son of best-selling novelist Louis L'Amour and has managed his father's literary estate since 1988. Striving to maintain that legacy, he has done editorial work, revised unfinished manuscripts, managed a literary magazine and an audio/radio drama series, done art direction, been a comic book writer and producer, and become an expert in marketing. In the years since his father passed away, L'Amour has helped sell over 120 million books, and nearly 5 million audio programs and placed several books of short stories (out of 16 posthumous collections) on the Best Seller lists.

Today on The Art of Masculinity:

  • What it was like to grow up with a successful and well-known father
  • Beau’s background and journey to becoming an industry jack-of-all-trades
  • Contrasting the publishing landscape then and now
  • Exploring the resurgence and modernization of audio, visual, and literary storytelling
  • How technological advancements are shaping these industries' futures.
  • When should we start worrying about our livelihoods when it comes to AI
  • How current events and societal issues shape trends in publishing
  • Passion versus performance: when to concede and conform, and when to push
  • What it was like growing up with Louis and the influence that he had in Beau’s life
