This week on The DEEP Life, Elise is joined by Erika Bélanger

Erika was previously on the show, featured in episode #34: Lessons from a Stress Coach.

Since being on the show in 2022, Erika has niched her coaching business to highly sensitive women.

She is an HSP somatic coach and yoga teacher working online and hosting international retreats. She’s the host of the top-ranking podcast On & Off Your Mat and has a membership of over 500 yoga classes that her members can stream anytime, anywhere. All of her work focuses on empowering highly sensitive women to trust themselves to feel fearless, be themselves unapologetically by embracing their sensitivity, and create a life of deep love, connections, and joy.

In this episode, Elise & Erika dive DEEP into what it means to feel your feelings, especially when you are a highly sensitive person, and how important it is for a regulated nervous system. Erika goes in-depth on the autonomic nervous system, and how it is broken down into parasympathetic & sympathetic states, but takes it further, discussing the Polyvagal Theory and the different levels of the nervous system and how they affect our bodies.

Elise and Erika share many commonalities as HSPs and not wanting to “feel” their emotions and how detrimental that can be on the body and what those effects look like so that others may be able to uncover or identify if they are experiencing any freeze state nervous system symptoms.

Erika emphasizes how important it is to move emotions, which are 'energy-in-motion’ through the body, and leads Elise through a useful exercise at the end of the episode to show what it means to work with any feelings that arise from an emotional situation, and how to release them from the body. This segment of the show is also on The DEEP Life YouTube page so you can view step by step how Erika coaches Elise through feeling and releasing an emotional response.
