In this episode of the DIY Endeavors Podcast, it’s just you and your host, engaged in a rambling rant on the differences between crowdfunding, neopatronage, and microloans, including the differences between them and how each is important for DIY, independent creative entrepreneurs.
Along the way, I chew on why some people seem to be so opposed to—even resentful of, perhaps—the various forms of neopatronage and community funding opportunities for the arts and artists. This leads me down a path of discussion wherein I have a bit to say about altruism, community, and generosity.
I want to hear your thoughts on the matter, too.
See below for ways to do just that.

The theme song of The DIY Endeavors Podcast, “Gnatcatcher,” was recorded on a Zoom R16 digital multitrack recorder using a 1971 Gibson Ripper bass guitar and a the-year-doesn’t-matter Fender Squire Stratocaster Bullet. Drum sequencing was done with Mixcraft 7. I wrote the song and played everything.
