Today we sit down with Dr. Alice Pickering who is a licensed clinical psychologist and certified clinical trauma specialist. She owns her own private practice and has an incredible Instagram account where she shares resources for women and mothers that are going through different phases of their lives.

Dr. Alice explains how she got started in psychology and how her own mothering experiences have impacted her practice. She breaks down what birth trauma is and what occurrences put some women at a higher risk for it than others. Dr. Alice gives tips on how someone who is feeling grief from their own birth experience can work through it.

It can be hard to recognize when it is the right time to seek professional help when dealing with something as threatening as birth trauma. Dr. Alice explains when it might be the right time to reach out beyond just talking with your family and friends. Maybe you might have a friend that has or is going through something similar? Dr. Alice walks us through what we can say and do to best support that individual.
