I woke up on Sunday morning, and suddenly realised that maybe there is something to the idea of stocking up on things. And I’ll be honest. I wasn’t thinking about food - food was not my first thought. I was thinking about nappies. Like what do you do if you don’t have nappies? And then we went to church and we weren’t hugging people or shaking hands and were sanitising like crazy. And when I went to visit my Nan this week in her nursing home, children are not allowed in, they check your temperature upon arrival. I didn’t even hug or kiss my Nan today just to be safe.

And I know that this is nothing compared to what is happening in countries like Italy and Vietnam where schools are closed and everyone is staying home. But there is all of this uncertainty around health and the economy and it is impacting every single person on the planet! It’s global.

But here’s what I know.

When life is uncertain God is certain. The shops may run out of rice and pasta but God is our provider. This didn’t surprise Him. From before the beginning of time God knew that in 2020 there would be a global pandemic. God is still in control and His plans for you are still good.

The Bible tells us in Psalm 46:1-3
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”

Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

And I love this scripture - Isaiah 26:3

“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.”

Philippians 4:6,7
"Do not be anxious about anything but in everything, with prayer and petition and thanksgiving to God; present your requests to God and the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Tonight friend, when you rest your head on your pillow I want you to say these words, “Father God, I trust in you. You make me lie down in peace. You are my rock, my fortress, my shelter. I will not fear because you are with me. Thank you for keeping my family safe physically and financially. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

God is for you. He loves you. I’m praying for you. Talk to you soon.
