Welcome to another episode of The Homestretch w/Adrian Durant, today we have with us on the show, former Long Jump athlete and an Olympics Bronze Medalist, Chelsea Hammond Ross. Following her graduation from the University, Hammond turned professional, and focused on her long jump career. She started training with numerous sporting personalities, including Olympic gold medalist and 5 times World Champion, Dwight Phillips, whom we have also interviewed in one of the previous episodes, and Tom Tellez, who served as her personal coach. She had a fantastic athletic career where she competed at various national and international events including the 2008 Beijing Olympics where she also won a bronze medal.
In this, video, Chelsea will talk about her early life, how she got into Track & Field and specifically Long Jump. She will share the struggles and obstacles she faced in her path of becoming a world class athlete. She shares her 2008 Beijing Olympics experience and why consistency and self belief is the recipe for success according to her. We also talked about her 8 years long wait for her rightful Olympic medal and also her shocking spine injury during 2012 London Olympics trials which unfortunately marked the end of her golden athletic career.
