One of the factors responsible for maintaining depression is inactivity. When we feel low, we do less, we feel worse, we have less energy and then the cycle continues. When we struggle with low self-esteem we find ourselves in situations that make us vulnerable to symptoms of depression, such as being in unhealthy/toxic or abusive relationships, people pleasing and not putting ourselves first. It is no wonder why we struggle to take the steps to become our best self when we are in the battle with our low self-esteem, as our depression zaps away any energy we have to make this possible.
