When you set out to create new levels of wealth, success, and freedom in your life you'll meet many challenges and obstacles. None seems to cause more stress in the lives of entrepreneurs than the resistance you'll receive from family members with a fixed or security mindset. When faced with family resistance, you can either shrink your dreams and ambitions, or keep plowing ahead willing to lose anyone in your life who doesn't want to support you. I've chosen to let people walk, and not shrink from my dreams. What will you choose?
The primary elements of this episode are:

  1. Oftentimes on the success journey genetic family create the most resistance on our path. Since they see the world narrowly, they can dissuade us from our dreams to make themselves feel ok.
  2. The usefulness of relationships sometimes have expiration dates. This includes family. When the usefulness expires, there's no need to feel obligated to continue to interact and engage.
  3. When you let go of people who's usefulness has expired in your life, new people will come into your life who will support you at a higher level. Losing those who have expired in your life opens a door to new friends and allies - real family.
