Today Yamel is joined by Danielle Cobo to discuss the importance of breaking the stigma around maternal mental health. Danielle is the best-selling author of the book, ‘Unstoppable Grit: Breakthrough The 7 Roadblocks Standing Between You and Achieving Your Goals’, a military spouse and mother to 6-year-old twin boys.
Today Danielle shares her story of postnatal depression, the warning signs to look out for, and her advice on what help to seek and how to navigate your way out of these dark times.

  • The importance of looking after yourself as a mother to then allow you to look after your babies. You need the foundations of self-care - sleep, nutrition, water, etc - to then be able to care for your babies.

  • Strategies you can use to help overcome the obstacles of postpartum depression, including asking for help and creating a team to help share the load, like Danielle did when she sought our support at One Love Doula to have help during the nights, and seeking therapy.
