This episode Kathy and Jabari discuss negative self talk, how common it is, and ways to combat it.

Techniques to combat negative self talk:
1. Surround yourself with positive messages and avoid social media that makes you feel bad about yourself.
2. Gratitude: Every few days, write some things you are grateful for. They should be different things. This will make a habit of seeing the good in your life.
3. Be conscious of how you speak to yourself: Would you say this to your loved one?
Try these:
“I can’t” to “I’ll figure it out”
“I’ll try” to “I’ll do”
“I need to” to “I am going to” or “I will do”
4. Being present: Come back to where you are in real time. Are you in the shower? Are you driving? Use all your senses to come back to the present moment and sit there for a bit.
5. Grounding: Get some earth to skin contact for a minimum of 20 minutes per day.

SHOW NOTES
1. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin said, “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience”
