Summer of Independence with Special Guest Carrie Marshall

In today's episode, I'm joined by a very special guest, Carrie Marshall. Carrie is a Master Life Coach who works with women to achieve their big goals and she's also my personal life coach!

Carrie is the brilliant mind behind The Summer of Independence. This idea started when Carrie was an overwhelmed mom of a 6,4, and 2 year old. Desperate for a change, she confided in her mom, who offered a simple and profound piece of advice: "You have three pairs of hands to help."

At first, she was resistant and believed that her children were too young to contribute. But the idea sparked a new perspective. What if her kids could help, even at their young ages?

She began researching age-appropriate tasks for her kids and to her surprise, discovered that her children were much more capable than she had given them credit for.

Thus began the Summer of Independence. Each summer, she focused on teaching life skills tailored to her kid's ages. They've covered a range of tasks: household chores, food preparation, personal care, and social skills. This annual tradition of skill-building has grown with her children, who are now teenagers.

In this episode, Carrie discusses practical tips for encouraging independence in kids, the importance of allowing them to fail, and the impact this tradition has had on her family dynamics.

If you're a parent looking to build confidence and resilience in your children while lightening your own load, this episode is a must-listen!
