We’re excited to talk more about pelvic floor therapy, and specifically, utilizing pelvic floor therapy during pregnancy. This is something that comes up often with patients in our clinics, and one of the most common questions we get asked is when is the best time to start pelvic floor therapy. While there’s no ‘magic’ time that will be best for everyone, starting pelvic floor therapy sooner (rather than later) can have tremendous benefits for you during your pregnancy, and into postpartum!

In today’s episode, we’re diving into preventative versus reactive steps to support your pregnancy, improving mobility throughout your entire body to positively impact your labor and delivery, maintaining bowel and bladder function, the incredible benefits of regular movement during your pregnancy, and more.

Ultimately, you know your body is going to change during pregnancy-it’s inevitable, right?! However, you don’t have to wait to take care of yourself and pursue treatment until you’re experiencing noticeable symptoms. No matter where you are in your pregnancy, advocating for yourself and really staying on top of the changes that are happening during this time WILL set you up for a smoother pregnancy and postpartum journey!

In this episode about the importance of pelvic floor therapy during pregnancy, we cover:

  • Alleviating pain during pregnancy, and choosing to be preventative vs. reactive when it comes to your care
  • Improving mobility during pregnancy
  • Maintaining bowel and bladder function during pregnancy
  • Promoting the benefits of regular movement that you actually ENJOY during pregnancy
  • Learning how to really connect with your pelvic floor, and how that can set you up for a smoother and safer labor and delivery overall
