Kelsi Chappell, an accomplished runner from Rhode Island, shares her journey in running, overcoming hurdles, and grabbing a new marathon PR of 2:49 two weeks ago.

She started running in high school and ran marathons with her dad. After running her first marathon, she qualified for the Boston Marathon, which sparked her passion for running. Despite not running in college, Kelsi continued to run as a way to bond with her son and cope with the challenges of being a young mom. She pursued her running goals while juggling responsibilities and credits her support system for helping her succeed.

Kelsi also faced setbacks, including a hip injury, but remained resilient and focused on her love for running. She discusses her experience with hip surgery and recovery, her mindset during the COVID-19 pandemic, and her recent marathon performances. She shares how she stayed mentally strong during her recovery and how she focused on her comeback, homeschooling her son, and writing children's books.

Kelsi also talks about the challenges of running multiple marathons in a short period of time and the emotional significance of running the Boston Marathon.

As a running coach and registered dietitian, she emphasizes the importance of fueling the body and addressing eating disorders in young athletes.
