Good morning everyone, this is Dina from the Royal Blue Candle. I am so happy to be back with new episodes today. I took close to a month off because my father was diagnosed with cancer, and we went to the hospital for his CT scan. We'll find out the results and treatment options next Friday, September 6th, so please pray for us; we need it.

Today, I want to discuss supporting someone who has cancer, as my family and I are going through this ourselves. Here are some steps you can take to make life a little bit better through the strength of Christ and family support:

Be There for Them: Show your support by listening, spending time with them, and offering comfort and companionship. Let them know you are available to help in any way they need.

Educate Yourself: Learn about the type of cancer they have been diagnosed with, the treatment options available, and what to expect during their treatment journey. This will help you provide more meaningful support.

Respect Their Feelings: Understand that they may experience a range of emotions, including fear, sadness, anger, and anxiety. Be empathetic and validate their feelings without minimizing them.

Offer Practical Help: Offer specific ways to help, such as driving them to appointments, cooking meals, running errands, or doing household chores. Small gestures can make a big difference.

Encourage Self-Care: Encourage them to take care of themselves by eating well, getting enough rest, and engaging in activities that bring them joy and relaxation. Offer to join them in activities they enjoy.

Respect Their Privacy: Understand that they may not want to share all the details of their diagnosis and treatment with everyone. Respect their need for privacy and confidentiality.

Stay Positive: Offer words of encouragement and positivity. Acknowledge their challenges and struggles, and be a source of hope and optimism.

Seek Support for Yourself: Supporting someone with cancer can be emotionally draining. Make sure to take care of yourself by seeking support from friends, family, or counselors if needed.

Remember, everyone's experience with cancer is unique. It's important to communicate openly with your friend or family member about how you can best support them during this challenging time. Thank you so much for tuning in, and thank you for being there for me and listening to this podcast. I appreciate you all. Take care and God bless.
