Singer, song writer, social worker, and activist Emily Cavanagh discovered a gift through COVID: Writing (and gifting) personalized songs to those feeling sad, lost, scared, and isolated.
Her initiative: "A Song For You" has now hit 100 songs which go to front-line workers, COVID patients, and their families in hospitals and hospice centers across the US. Famed singers, including Sophie B Hawkins, have shared and written songs for A Song For You, too.
In this interview, Cavanagh shares how she found social work, activism, and song writing provided the perfect tapestry of her Chicago Irish heritage, passions, and skills. And how grieving for what she lost through COVID inspired her newest passion: "A Song for You."
You can find Emily's music through: www.emilycavanaghmusic.com and www.hereisasongforyou.org becomes live soon.
