Karen-Pendergrass

FMT, Fecal Microbiota Transplantatation, Fecal Bacteriotherapy.

It has many names…

And then there’s the underground: “poop sharing.”

The idea of transplanting someone else’s stool seemed strange to me 5 years ago. But in the time since then, I’ve seen it help a lot of people.

And hey, when you’re that sick… and it can help… why not?

Recently, the FDA has made some interesting changes to how they view FMT, classifying it as an “Investigational New Drug.” Given what’s been going on with the recent rulings, there’s no better time than now for people to share their FMT success stories and how it changed their lives.

Enter Karen Pendergrass.

Brave, bold, and raw.

She’s the founder of the The Paleo Foundation, a non-profit organization that certifies Paleo food products under the Paleo Approved and Paleo Certification programs, and offers other programs with the goal of growing the Paleo Movement.

Not only that, she’s the Author of “Eat Paleo Save the World! Sustainability from an Omnivore’s Perspective,” and more recently created http://paleomovement.com/.

I can’t say enough about this amazing woman… who’s willing to share her DIY fecal transplant story (which only cost $18) and how it completely changed her life.

If FMT is something you’ve been considering, you won’t want to miss this episode…

Here’s What We Covered on Today’s Podcast:

1:09 Karen’s health journey (and why FMT became an option)
7:57 How she decided the DIY Fecal Transplant was right for her (with step-by-step details)
13:27 Life after FMT – her amazing transformation
16:34 Tips for people thinking about doing FMT
21:20 How to find out more about Karen’s work (and her new book)

Thank you again Karen, we can’t wait for your book to come out and I look forward to having you back on the show then.

In the meantime, if you’d like to explore FMT further, I’d highly recommend you check out the IBD Specialty Center in Silver Spring, MD.
