One time, for 28 days, I drank nothing but protein shakes.
I was following a supposedly AMAZING fitness diet to lose weight. While I did lose some, I gained most of it back within a few months.
I’ve tried almost every “diet” in the world, whether it was back when I was trying to add muscle to play college sports, lose weight when I was 60lbs heavier or fix my health after that.
And I can tell you that after publicly talking about my story and working with people for the last 6 years there’s NO DOUBT in my mind… that our relationship to food must be explored.
Whether you sometimes cheat, fall off the wagon, binge, overeat like I used to do… or whether you get “stuck” and militant about foods or stress eat like Jordan has in the past… or whether you’re like good friends of mine who’ve starved themselves or purged at times…
I want you to know you’re not crazy nor should you be ashamed.
I do want to encourage you to explore your pattern with food, though – to get curious, fascinated and excited to discover your patterns. Because guess what, everyone has them.
One of the best ways to start is by listening to this very raw podcast where I talk about my patterns with food, where Emily shares her very vulnerable story and Marc helps us all relax into a more solid relationship with it.
On This Podcast with Marc and Emily, We Cover:
1:35 The discovery Marc made at 5 years of age
5:10 Emily’s background and why she has been a major inspiration for me
9:30 The secret science behind chips and why you may love to eat them
14:20 Our relationship to food is complex and affects our health
19:20 The nutrition of our food is affected by spiritual and emotional components
27:55 90% of food issues have nothing to do with what to eat, how to eat, or when to eat
32:25 When starting SCD or paleo focus on the pleasure not the pain
38:18 The meaning of “Are you trying to fill a spiritual hole?”
45:01 Where to go to look at your mind and its relationship with food
47:20 Our relationships with food are symbolic of who we are
Thank you so much to my special friends, Marc and Emily, for sharing your amazing gifts with the world. I’ve personally been helped so much by you guys and I’m grateful to share your knowledge with our community.
