In this episode Steph shares some of the ways that people supported her in her grief journey to date. Everyone’s grief is as unique as a finger print and these are some of Steph’s personal reflections. Acknowledging that supporting someone in loss is not an easy task and requires courage & bravery.
Before they get into this slightly uncomfortable topic we get an update on Raf’s school drops and we express love to our cleaners (side note, Steph’s cleaner has since left her!).
Ways you can support someone through grief (these are things Steph has appreciated & still appreciates deeply):

- Acknowledgement of their loss and loved one who passed away through gestures like saying their name, sharing memories or pictures
- Leaving notes at significant and likely difficult dates (birthday, anniversary, wedding anniversary, mothers day, fathers day, Christmas, other milestones), reaching out before the day

- Sitting with the griever through uncomfortable emotions and acknowledging how difficult (f**ed up) the situation is rather than trying to fix it

- Sending a birthday card or gift addressed to her late loved one to keep their memory alive

- Being brave and show up

Ideas on what you can give instead of flowers:
Cuddly jumper
Massage vouched (this was amazing & sent Candice to me!)
Food train (coordinated with other people wanting to do similar)
Ornament for Christmas
Personalised Candle
Chocolate
