In this week's episode I sit down with Laura Kay Eriks from Illinois. This conversation was literally fresh off the completion of the Rocky Raccoon 100 on her birthday weekend and what a sweet gift it was to finish yet another 100 miler. Ultra marathons are nothing new for Laura. She has been running them for the last decade after her original attempt at running one with little training.

She has run countless 50K and 50 milers and has completed well over 21 hundred mile ultras that include some of the following well known races: Heartland, Rocky Raccoon, Land Between The Lakes, Arkansas Traveler, Spirit of the Osage, Black Hills, Tunnel Hill, Hawk Hundred, Snow Drop, No Business, Hennepin Hundred and several others.

Laura is not only an ultra runner, but is married to Michael who is an ultra runner and her son is an ultra runner at the age of 15. It is a family affair and they love it that way and it keeps the competition and training going year round in their home. Laura and Michael are also the race directors for their home grown race, the Arrowhead Endurance Run held in October every year in Johnston City, Illinois. When Laura isn't running or helping her family out in their training/races, she spends her time as a Nuclear Medicine Technician and an ambassador for Orange Mud and apart of the Ornery Mule Racing Team.
