In this episode, Dr. Cammarata and Dr. Campanile will discuss the different ways that one can improve health in both their heart and brain and why it matters so much to do so.
Globally, nearly 18.6 million people died of cardiovascular disease in 2019, the latest year for which worldwide statistics are calculated. That reflects a 17.1% increase over the past decade. There were more than 523.2 million cases of cardiovascular disease in 2019, an increase of 26.6% compared with 2010. In the US a person dies from heart disease every 36 seconds, and 659,000 die every year. 2200 Americans die of heart disease every day, the most common cause of death in both men and women – over 40 million American women are currently living with some form of heart disease.
As life expectancy lengthens around the world, the incidence of dementia and cognitive decline is also increasing. The number of people affected by dementia is growing exponentially, with an estimated 50 million people diagnosed worldwide today and 82 million predicted to be diagnosed by 2030.
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common disease of aging, affecting as many as 70 million people worldwide.
Thankfully, the habits to prevent or even possibly reverse any of these related diseases are all the same. Please take the time to enjoy this podcast and learn about what these specific habits are.
