In this episode Wayne and Guest Podcaster, Mark discuss the two most recent #Superman films. First film is #SupermanReturns, directed by #BryanSinger (#XMen, #AptPupil, #UsualSuspects), starring #BrandonRouth (#Atom from #Arrow. #Chuck, #Zach&MiriMakeAPorno), #KateBosworth (#StillAlice, #UnderTheSea), #ParkerPosey (#Scream3, #Josie&ThePussycats, #HenryFool) and #KevinSpacey (#HouseOfCards, #AmericanBeauty) We analyse the mature themes present in Superman returns, the despair and isolation in Brandon Routh's performance. Wayne believes this is a work of subtle brilliance, while Mark maintains a feeling of indifference to Routh. We also discuss #RichardDonner and #ChristopherReeve. We follow this up with a deep focus on #ManOfSteel, directed by #ZackSnyder (#BatmanvSuperman, #300, #Watchmen), starring #HenryCavill (#TheTudors, #ManFromUNCLE), #AmyAdams (#BigEyes, #AmericanHustle, #Enchanted), #MichaelShannon (#ElvisAndNixon, #BoardwalkEmpire, #TakeShelter), and #RussellCrowe (#TheWaterDiviner, #ABeautifulMind). We assess the three main issues with #ManOfSteel and whether it truly is superior to Superman Returns. The discussion comes full circle by analysing each film side by side to figure out what these films got right and if given the choice, which film would we choose. Our intention was to compare and contrast the two films, once we got chatting an hour and a half flew by. So we hope you enjoy this special episode. As always you can find us on iTunes or Stitcher and you can follow us @SGSPod.
