This week on Up Close, we look at what happens when we publicize private details.

Daphne Merkin is a well-known essayist who has built a reputation for revealing much about herself and digging deeply into the lives of others. She discusses her new book, The Fame Lunches: On Wounded Icons, Money, Sex, The Brontes, and The Importance of Handbags.

But these days, all of us are revealing a lot more about ourselves than we ever have before, often without our knowing consent. New York Times columnist Jim Dwyer tells the story of those who would try to change that in More Awesome Than Money: Four Boys and Their Quest to Save Your Privacy From Facebook.
