In today's episode I talk with Clarissa Kennedy and Molly Painschab about the clinical study they did on food addiction and what they learned. Clarissa and Molly are both certified mental health and addiction clinicians who have over 20 years combined experience working in this field. For the past 3 years they have both been in private practice working with clients one-on-one towards treatment for Food Addiction while continuing their studies and doing research in the field of treatment on food addiction. In January 2021, they partnered with Dr. Vera Tarman to launch The Food Junkies Podcast which now has over 300,000 downloads. Later that year, they began the first ever clinical research audit on ultra-processed food addiction treatment and recently published their findings in a research paper in Frontiers in Psychiatry called "Low carbohydrate and psychoeducational programs show promise for the treatment of ultra-processed food addiction.” This paper is now in the top 2% of papers ever published in Frontiers and Top 100 papers published of all time in the online journal. In November Molly and Clarissa are soft launching Sweet Sobriety an interactive, online, Food Addiction Recovery community. This online platform will include enhanced Food Addiction Treatment modules based on their published research paper, groups, one on one coaching, monthly workshops and more.
