On today’s episode, I am joined by Rochelle Olsen. Raised in western NSW, Australia, Rochelle knows all too well the challenges that rural living can present. Being a career clinical pharmacist for over 20 years, Rochelle suddenly found herself choosing between surviving baby loss and the career she had built her identity around. She experienced a missed miscarriage in 201 which was incredibly uninformed and frightening. Then, her firstborn son, Edward, died at 7 hours old. She found unacceptable gaps in the support and guidance after baby loss and decided to do something about it. She sold her pharmacy and whilst she went on to have 2 beautiful earth side boys she also experienced a second miscarriage. She trained as a Pregnancy Loss Practitioner (with the Institute of Healing through Pregnancy Loss) grief and loss support worker, and became mental health first aid accredited. Now she is a lamplighter for baby loss mums in rural Australia when they need it most. In today’s episode, we are talking about the lack of support that she received and that she needed so desperately and how she uses her experience to help others in their time of need with baby loss. Tune in to hear more Rochelle’s story and how she supports baby loss mums.
