Retired LEO and author Ruth Ducharme was in studio recently and asked us a question about an old method of tracking activity and people in her district, or beat, called a Beat Book. In it she would track common people she encountered, who their associates were, where they hung out etc.

Is this analog solution still applicable in the modern world of databases and cross referencing? Do you still use a Beat Book? Do you keep it in a Beat Box?
