The industry of hypnotic professionals is changing. In the years that I’ve been doing hypnosis, in the eight or nine years I have been doing this podcast, and in the years of seeing thousands of clients and training thousands of students worldwide, some of the opinions and belief systems that were around when I started have changed. They are all completely different from what they used to be. Thus, they may challenge some of what you believe or what you’ve learned. But some of these opinions, before their changes, held me back at some point, and learning how they have evolved might help you gain a different perspective in your own hypnotic practice.

In this episode, I share four opinions about hypnosis that have changed over the years. I describe the deeply-held belief that hypnosis is an extremely delicate state that should not be interrupted. I outline the core linguistic patterns that underlie hypnosis and how understanding them can simplify the practice. I also explain the value of focusing hypnotic pre-talk to what will happen in a hypnotic session and underscore the role of grassroots advocacies and movements in advancing the hypnotic profession.
