"We all need to be held and supported by ourselves and one another."
Do you know what it means to be resilient with pain, get through it, and end up on the other side with a greater sense of purpose?
As humans life comes with its fair share of struggles. But we are resilient. We are designed to release pain and to get past it. When we choose to heal, we evolve into truly purposeful humans, no longer being victims to our past stories but instead letting our pain be the key to our destiny. Helping us to find greater purpose for ourselves and others. Remember, you’ll never be led wrong on your journey as long as you listen to and trust your intuition.
In this episode, Sam Akers and I have a wonderful conversation about past trauma, which was the root of her illness. She was diagnosed with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia in 1998. However, it was when she found Restorative Yoga and Buddhist Mindfulness that helped her to heal and catapulted her onto the path she is walking today.
Listen as she shares with us how these tools helped her transform from a person struggling with pain into someone who now holds space for others to heal every single day.

Exceptional Highlights

  • In restorative yoga, the REST aspect helps balance the polyvagal system, the vagus nerve. It gives the ability of the nervous system, immune system, endocrine system, and enteric nervous system in the gut to come back into balance slowly.

  • There are only two actual true things happening in the present moment. Something comes in through our body’s senses; if it's interesting enough, awareness knows it. From there, we get to choose what we believe with this newfound awareness.

  • It takes practice, training, and dedication to be kind and compassionate around the discomfort and pain we experience and see how our minds cause our suffering.
