Joe Amrine already was facing 55 years when he was wrongly convicted of killing an inmate in 1985 and then was sentenced to death. After three different trials, Joe finally was exonerated in 2003 and released. Bryan Seddens was soon to be 18 when he and Joe crossed paths in Potosi, where inmates are sent to be executed. Joe and other older prisoners offered Bryan sage advice that he still uses to this day. Both could have benefited from meeting a person such as Elyse Max , who currently is fighting to keep inmates in the state from ever facing a death sentence. She is the co-director of Missourians For Alternatives To The Death Penalty. Listen to how she and Joe are advocating for those who need it as well how all those years affected he and our co-host Bryan in this latest edition of Growing Up On Death Row at 17.
