Michael Perry is a husband and father to two little boys, Leander and Solomon. He is also the founder and CEO of Maple, a venture backed company focused on improving the quality of life at home by making it easier to plan and manage the workload in a more equitable way.

Prior to founding Maple, he was the founder and CEO of Kit, which was acquired by Shopify in 2016 and spent a few years after remaining as the Director of Kit and Product at Shopify. Michael has previously been recognized as a 30 under 30 by Forbes, as a top marketing executive by Business Insider and a technology influencer by Inc magazine.

Michael resides in Santa Barbara, California with his family and two bulldogs Olive and Pearl.

In this episode, Michael and I chatted about...

  • Experiencing IVF and infertility from the supportive spouse point of view
  • How he’s instilling life lessons and values about privilege and hard work to his young sons who didn’t have a choice being born white, male and to wealth
  • Who he attributes his success to and why
  • Finding meaning in parenthood vs. achievements
  • How Maple is trying to revolutionize household management - how do we get people to work better together so that not everything falls on “mom”
  • How he’s structuring his company around family and parents and building a company culture from a place of empathy
