The Comfort Via Discomfort podcast is 1-year old! To celebrate this milestone and to honor all the guests and supporters of this show, we’re counting down the top 10 episodes from our first year.

Here is #9 with KC Cordova!
——
KC is a close friend and one of my favourite people on the planet because of how authentic he really is.
He is a performer, an artist, a singer, a marketing professional, and a gay man from the Philippines. He takes so much pride (pun intended) in who he is and is unapologetically himself — but it's taken a lot for him to get to this point.
In this episode, KC talks about growing up in the Philippines and how he struggled with the culture, as gayness wasn't accepted. He shares that he felt tremendous pressure to be great at everything so that people would “tolerate” him being gay.
KC also takes us through what it was like opening up to each of his parents and how a coaching program really helped him to have that tough conversation with his mom, changing their relationship forever.
I hope this episode inspires you to take a step towards living life as your authentic self, if you're not already there. And I also hope that you learn more about accepting others for who they really are, because we all deserve to be ourselves and to be loved!! ❤️ Enjoy!

Mentioned in the episode:

  • Zander Moricz's Grad Speech in which he talks about having "curly hair" because the principal said they'd shut off the mics if he talked about being gay
