As humans we crave acceptance. However, acceptance comes at a cost. If we try to hard to be accepted it often comes at a detriment to ourselves. We don’t go after our goals, we don’t start the business, we don’t leave our marriage, we don’t do what is actually good for us because society likes a very specific picture. Society doesn’t like chaos and encourages settling.
So, very often, we let what other people might think and say stop us from doing something big. Something we really want to do.
