“You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take.”
-Wayne Gretzky
I love this quote❤️and find that it completely applies to life with planning.
And this week on Episode #62 ot the Habit Thrive Podcast, we are talking about Planning Happiness.🤗
How many times have you thought🤔 something like:
- “I would really love to take a cruise to Alaska”
- “I think this year I’m going to start putting money aside each week for Christmas presents.”
- “I really want to remodel the bathroom and get that sink I’ve been looking at.”
Only to find you let the idea go because your brain🧠 starts saying:
- “I can’t take the time off work for that.”
- “My bills are so high right now, I don’t even know how much I could spare.”
- “I shouldn’t spend money on that when what I have is just fine.”
But what if you decided to overrule👩🏼⚖️ what your brain is saying and plan for it anyway?
What if you get out your calendar📅 and mark down a date to book that trip you have always dreamed of?
What if you make a note in your planner every Friday to transfer $25 or $50💵 into your Christmas savings account?
Of course, that doesn’t guarantee you will accomplish those things, but it certainly puts you on a path to reaching your goals.
You may find that you aren’t quite ready to take your dream trip this fall like you planned🤷🏼♀️ because there’s just too much going on.
But you know that next spring will be a lot less busy for you, so you can just shift your plan to the next season.
It doesn’t mean you forget about it; just that you learn to make space in your life for it at the right time for you.😊
Your planning journey doesn’t have to be perfect, and there’s no rule saying that you have to check off every box on your list!
But experimenting with planning for your next season can open you up to more “aha” moments🤓 around your schedule and provide time for the unexpected happiness in life that you might otherwise pass on.
It’s worth a try!
