I'm speaking with a giant of the field of audiology today Robert Sweetow is a retired Professor of audiology who worked at the Department of Otolaryngology and was former Director of Audiology at the University of California, San Francisco. We find out what audiology is and discover what the main components of the ear are. Expect to find out the difference between hearing and listening and that one these happens in the ear and the one doesn't. We talk about the main causes of hearing loss and how to avoid it. We learn shocking statistics that suggest hearing loss is a growing problem. I ask Professor Sweetow to explain exactly what tinnitus is and what treatments exist for it. We also explore the relationship between hearing loss and conditions of cognitive decline such as dementia and learn if we can control hearing loss we can lessen our risk of cognitive decline. Prof Sweetow is fascinating to listen to, if you value your hearing, if you or anyone you know suffers from hearing loss, tinnitus or cognitive decline this conversation is definitely worth a listen. https://profiles.ucsf.edu/robert.sweetow Order Happy Habits for Mind and Body Audiobook: https://rb.gy/h5jjjg Order Kindle copy of Happy Habits for Mind and Body : https://rb.gy/jiojcc Order US paperback of Happy Habits for Mind and Body : https://rb.gy/sirste Order UK paperback of Happy Habits for Mind and Body : https://rb.gy/jtfea5 Listen to all previous podcast episodes of the Happy Habit Podcast via these podcast platforms : Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/ie/podcast/happy-habit-podcast Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Happy-Habit-Podcast/dp/B08K5887J8 Amazon music : https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/670836c2-ea4c-4a23-a67d-a54dd804ef61/happy-habit-podcast Spotify https://https://open.spotify.com/show/2VKIhQK6mYTzLCO8haUoRd Google Podcasts : https://t.ly/hTU8q ----- Follow the Happy Habit Podcast at: Website: https://happyhabitpodcast.wordpress.com/Facebook: Twitter: https://twitter.com/mathieunorry Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/happyhabitpodcast/ Newsletter:
