I'm excited to share a new video breaking down the basics of the endocannabinoid system. This system plays a critical role in regulating many processes in our bodies to maintain homeostasis and health. However, it remains relatively unknown, even in the medical community.
In this video, I explain how the endocannabinoid system works similarly to a vehicle's computer - constantly monitoring different systems and making adjustments as needed. It helps balance your immune system, energy levels, emotions, and more by using cannabinoid receptors throughout the body. I describe the two main receptors: CB1, which exists on most cells, and CB2, primarily found in immune tissues. The endocannabinoids anandamide and 2-AG naturally activate these receptors.
I discuss how phytocannabinoids from cannabis, like THC and CBD, also influence the endocannabinoid system. Amazingly, this system evolved very early in animal development and remains conserved across species, underscoring its importance. When functioning optimally, it prevents many modern diseases that simply don't exist in nature.
The video explores natural ways we can support our endocannabinoid system, like certain dietary fats and herbs containing compounds like beta-caryophyllene. I also cover products from my company TruMedics designed to target this master regulatory system. Monitoring your endocannabinoid tone can reveal a lot about overall wellness.
I made this video understandable for all audiences while packing it with science. Please check out the full breakdown of this critical, yet often ignored system in the latest chip talks video below! Let me know if you have any other questions.
