In this last episode in the four part series ‘Parenting the Restorative Way’ with Rick Kelly he and I talk about how parents and caregivers can be challenged to communicate with professionals involved with their child. Rick explains how he maps out all the responsibilities parents have and how parents are their child’s village (in relation to ‘It Takes a Village to Raise a Child’) and how parents are managing multiple roles at one time. Recognizing and learning how to be your child’s best advocate while interacting in settings where professionals see themselves as experts can be intimidating, frustrating and negatively impactful.
