Do you hate spending time alone and is it something that you constantly run away from?
In this episode I take you through a personal experience that resulted in me having to spend a lot of time in isolation. It was completely involuntary, which meant that I had a negative understanding of what it truly meant to be alone. However through a simple change in perspective I was able to find great joy and glory from the isolation. The pandemic proved to be a significant crisis that resulted in many people, including myself, being forced to spend time in isolation. This ultimately took a great toll on how we interacted with the outside world, but more importantly, how we interacted with ourselves!
The negative connotation around isolation ultimately stems from us not having great relationships with ourselves, and this experience is known as loneliness. Solitude, on the other hand, can only be truly achieved and experienced once we fix the relationship we have with ourselves. There will be a time in your life where isolation will become your reality but it is still possible to enjoy the isolation as your reality.
In this episode I break down 2 practices that we can implement everyday in order to change our perspective around spending time alone:

  1. Getting outside and spending time in nature
  2. Meditation

Here are some questions to ask yourself as you listen to this episode. Write these down and spend some time thinking about these questions. Let's see if you came to the same conclusions as I did in this episode:

  • Do I enjoy my own company?
  • Do I only enjoy my own company when its accompanied with an external source of comfort?
  • How do I respond to my thoughts?
  • Are we ever truly alone?
