In this special Brothaspeak Podcast #66, we decided expand our horizons a bit to present our first people of color (POC) episode for a brand new drama series premiering 5/6/2018 on the Starz Network called VIDA. VIDA follows the life of two Mexican-American sisters, Emma and Lyn, from the Eastside of Los Angeles who couldn't be more different or distanced from each other. Circumstances force them to return to their old neighborhood, where they are confronted by the past and shocking truth about their mother's identity.

"Emma" played by Mishel Prada

Emma, estranged from both her sister and her mother, reluctantly returns for her mother’s funeral and to deal with the family business.

Unbeknownst to Emma, things at home changed dramatically and her sister is the only one that can help her make sense of it all.

"Cruz" played by Maria-Elena Laas

Cruz, an enigmatic lesbian who was once a mentor to Emma before she left L.A. Once Emma returns home, things that were left unsaid will soon come to light.
