#148: Patric Young is a former professional and University of Florida basketball player. He is currently an ESPN basketball analyst.
As a McDonald’s All American Patric was touted as one of the top high school recruits in the country. This landed him a scholarship at the University of Florida with then Head Coach Billy Donovan.
In his four year career with the Gators Patric and his teammates achieved tremendous success going to 3 Elite 8’s and 1 Final Four. Individually he amassed numerous accolades from SEC Defensive Player of the Year to 3 time SEC scholar-athlete to many others. Even more impressive is that he never missed a game during his career at Florida.
After playing professionally in the NBA and overseas he transitioned into broadcasting as a college basketball analyst for the SEC Network.
In the summer of 2022 Patric was involved in a tragic car accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. His new book Sit to Rise: Turning Your Darkest Pain into Your Brightest Victory, shares his story and perspective not only from that experience, but also from his whole life.
Patric’s story is truly an inspiration and encouragement, but even as he has already overcome so much he still in the middle of battling to walk again one day, which I believe makes his words even stronger and even more of a reason to listen. On the show you will get to hear his perspective and the principles he uses as he works each day to live in the present in the midst of his own challenges.
